Setting up Gamma and HeyGen

Connect your own Gamma and HeyGen keys to unlock carousels, slide decks, and narrated videos in Asset Studio.

Most of Asset Studio works out of the box. Two of the richer formats reach out to outside providers, so they need a key from that provider first:

  • Gamma powers slide decks and swipeable social carousels.
  • HeyGen powers short narrated videos with an avatar and voice.

You bring your own key for each. They are set per organization, and only an org admin or owner can add them. Each takes about a minute.

Where to set them up

Go to Organization Settings → Integrations, and find the AI generation section. Gamma and HeyGen each have a card there showing whether they are connected.

Connect Gamma

  1. On the Gamma card, click Get a key. It opens gamma.app/settings/api-keys in a new tab.
  2. Create a key in Gamma and copy it.
  3. Back in Squawk, paste it into the API key field (it looks like gamma_...) and click Connect Gamma.
  4. Squawk checks the key against Gamma. If it works, the card flips to Connected.
  5. Optional: set a default theme so new decks and carousels start from your preferred look.

Connect HeyGen

  1. On the HeyGen card, click Get a key. It opens app.heygen.com/projects?nav=API in a new tab.
  2. Create a key in HeyGen and copy it.
  3. Paste it into the API key field (it looks like heygen_...) and click Connect HeyGen.
  4. Squawk validates it and flips the card to Connected.
  5. Optional: pick a default avatar and default voice so new videos start from your usual presenter. You can also add a pronunciation glossary for names the avatar tends to get wrong.

Faster video status (optional)

Once HeyGen is connected, the card shows a webhook URL and secret. Pasting those into HeyGen's API settings lets HeyGen push you the moment a video is done instead of Squawk polling for it. It is purely a speed nicety. If you skip it, videos still work, they just take a touch longer to show as ready. (This one needs a couple of deploy-environment values set, so it may be handled for you.)

After connecting

The matching controls in Asset Studio switch on:

  • Gamma connected unlocks slide decks and social carousels.
  • HeyGen connected unlocks short videos, in both Precise mode (you choose the avatar, voice, and script) and Video Agent mode (you give a prompt and HeyGen handles the rest).

If a format is greyed out with a "add your key" note, that is the prompt to come back here. The keys are yours and stay in your organization; Squawk just uses them to generate on your behalf.
